Dreamland Comics is the type of comic book store I wish I could have gone to when I was growing up. The store has been at the same location in Libertyville, IL for almost 11 years now. It started out as Quantum Comics & Games in 1991, and was purchased and renamed by a friend of mine in 1993. I became the owner in 1995. Initially, I bought the store to make a little extra money and contribute in some way to the comics field. Truth be told, it was also something I had always wanted to do. At the time I bought the store, I had been collecting comics and related merchandise for about 21 years, but I'd had no experience running a retail business. What I did have though, was an excellent knowledge of the field's merchandise and history and the belief that most customers would want the same things out of a comic book store that I do.

We've built a bright, clean, organized store that caters equally well to longtime fans, casual readers, or the curious browser. Dreamland Comics carries a wide variety of comic book, gaming and related merchandise and supplies. The store hosts frequent sales, game tournaments, miniature painting and gaming demonstrations, and an ever-growing comics club subscription service. Our staff is very knowledgeable and keeps up to date on current events in the comic book and gaming industries. Whether they're in regard to role-playing, collectible card games, miniature gaming, board gaming, or of course, comic books, we welcome your questions. And if we don't have the answer, we'll get it.

We've also worked to foster the type of atmosphere where folks can come in and talk gaming or chat about comic books, inside as well as behind the panels. There's space available for playing card and board games and two custom-built tables made expressly for miniature-based gaming. By coupling this friendly atmosphere with the services we provide, I believe that we stand out from many other comic book stores. I'm proud of what my staff and I have built; something that's apparent as soon as you enter the store. I purchased Dreamland Comics with the philosophy that it should offer customers the service of a business but with the atmosphere of a hobby. I still follow that philosophy today.
